Pacific Seacraft built this Saga 409 model in the California factory prior to the company’s relocation to Washington,NC in 2007. Commissioning is currently being completed in Washington, NC at Carolina Wind Yachting Center. Special equipment for this fast cruiser includes in-mast furling, variable geometry rig with Code-0 spinnaker, twin Diamond Series Edson wheels, carbon fiber rudder, electric Harken cabin-top winch, heavy-duty stern rails and bow pulpit, radar/antenna arch, glass-mat batteries, and more. The interior is beautifully finished in varnished cherry and complemented with dark Corian counter tops. You must inspect this Saga 409 to see first-hand just how extraordinary she is.

Accommodations:

Berths for six are provided in the V-berth (2), port and starboard settees (2), and aft quarter berth (2). All cabins are finished with varnished cherry wood providing a light and airy feel. Down the companionway, the chart table is located conveniently to starboard with the galley opposite. Aft to starboard is the guest cabin with a double quarterberth. Traditional port and starboard settees are upholstered with light-colored  UltraLeather and a beautifully crafted cherry dining table folds down from the main bulkhead. The head is to port, forward of the main cabin, and includes a separate shower and electric head.

Galley

The galley is equipped with a front and top-loading insulated icebox which has a refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, gimbaled stove and oven, and abundant storage.    Completing the galley setup is a double stainless steel sink, hot and cold pressure water, and plenty of storage in cabinets both above and below the work surface. Dark Corian is elegantly used on counter surfaces.

Head

A reliable Vacu-Flush electric marine head is provided along with hot and cold pressure water. Hot water is supplied electrically by a hot water heater when dockside and via a heat exchanger from the engine when underway. A 12-volt shower sump pump will discharge shower water, helping to keep the bilge clean and odor free. A molded vanity and sink provide easy to clean surfaces. The shower is completely separate and spacious. A 35-gallon holding tank may be emptied via a dockside pump out or discharged via an electric macerator pump and thru hull.

Electrical

The Pacific Seacraft Saga 409 has both 110V AC and 12V DC services. The 110-volt AC shore power provides dockside service for hot water, the battery charging system, multiple outlets in the galley, head, and each cabin. The 12-volt DC system has 4-six volt batteries in one bank and an engine starting battery connected by selector switches in the nav station for isolating batteries or combining them. Both the 110V and 12V service panels are equipped with breaker switches above the nav station. A Freedom 10, 1000Watt Inverter provides 110Volt AC power away from the dock.

Electronics

The Pacific Seacraft Saga 409 will be equipped with knot and depth meters, wind instrument, and an autopilot located at the helm opposite the engine instrumentation. An Icom M-502 VHF radio will be mounted at the nav station along with a remote mic in the cockpit. A stereo with CD/MP3 and 4 speakers is additionally planned.

Sails and Rigging

Try out the vertical battened roller furling mainsail and you’ll see how easy it is to sail fast, efficiently, and with less effort than you may be accustomed to. Reefing is simple and infinitely adjustable…allowing just the right amount of sail to be set for the desired heeling angle. All lines and sail controls are handled from the cockpit. Large self-tailing primary winches, cabin top arch-mounted traveler, and boom vang make sail adjustments easy. With the addition of the cruising Code-O Spinnaker this boat will handle well on all points of sail.

Safety Equipment and Accessories

The Pacific Seacraft Saga 409 is a very capable and accommodating sailboat. She’ll take you places over the horizon quickly and safely. Her “miscellaneous” list includes all the required Coast Guard safety equipment, a properly sized galvanized plow anchor with coated chain and rode, SS swim ladder on the transom, 2-speed Barient primary winches, a rigid boomvang, two Ritchie wheel mounted compasses, a dodger and bimini, roller furling for the genoa, manual bilge pump, and an electric bilge pump with float switch. There are five cockpit lockers provided for ideal stowage of liferafts, bicycles, propane tanks, diving gear, etc.
