The Catalina 22 Sport is a great first boat or a step up for a dinghy sailor looking to get into a pocket cruiser/racer. Catalina designed the C22 Sport in response to requests for a new boat that would reflect the original dimensions and weight of the Catalina 22 class. With tens of thousands of boats built, the Catalina 22 is one of the most popular boats out there for one-design racing, and the C22 Sport is class legal to compete with C22s both old and new. Cat's Paw is like a brand new boat for half the price. She is clean both on deck and down below, and she comes equipped with everything you need to get out on the water - and more. Special touches include a solar panel to keep the battery topped up, a Suzuki 6 hp outboard with alternator, Garmin handheld GPS, NEW bulkhead-mounted compass, and a complement of sails that includes a NEW 110% roller furling jib, a 150% roller furling genoa, and a battened main. Accommodations: The Catalina 22 Sport features a spacious and comfortable cockpit with a large cockpit locker to port. To starboard, a hinged cover hides the portable fuel tank for the outboard. The Danforth compass is mounted on the bulkhead to port, the Hawkeye digital depth finder to starboard. Down below, the cabin is uncrowded and well-lit, with large fixed ports and an opening hatch forward. The 48-quart icebox doubles as a companionway step down into the cabin. There is a full set of interior cushions, including settees to port and starboard and a V-berth with a cushion insert, beneath which is the porta-potty. Storage areas abound under each cushion and aft of the settees. Electrical An electrical panel at the aft end of the cabin has breaker switches for navigation lights, cabin lights, and accessories. Electronics Solar panel Deck and Hull The deck and hull are clean and solid. The bottom was painted in May 2007 and has been cleaned by a diver on a regular basis. Sails and Rigging Mounted on the CDI furling unit is a 110% jib with foam inserts that has never been used. The 150% genoa also uses the roller furling system. The 101 sq. ft. mainsail features partial battens. The headsail furling line and main halyard are led aft to the cockpit, and the headsail sheets lead through a block on either the inner or outer sheet tracks to a pair of chromed bronze #14 Lewmar winches. The mainsail utilizes end-boom sheeting with a traveler at the aft end of the cockpit. A boom vang and topping lift allow fine-tuning of the main. All sail controls can be easily reached by the helmsman from his position at the tiller, which has been kept covered and is like-new. Mechanical The four-stroke Suzuki 6 hp outboard features an optional alternator for battery charging. Safety Equipment and Accessories Cat's Paw is equipped with docking gear, ground tackle, and all necessary safety items, including life jackets, throwable flotation devices, flares, dock lines, fenders, and a Danforth anchor with 100 feet of rode. A swim ladder on the stern provides boarding access from the water.
